Description
For centuries, the "Comedy And Tragedy Masks" have symbolized acting and the theater. In the Greek theater they were worn to convey the various emotions of the players. The mask's exaggerated expressions served to show the actor's emotions to those seated in the distance. The masks had large mouth openings and were made so that the actor could talk easily and be heard at the back of the auditorium. Actors were able to play more than one role because of the masks, simply having to change masks when the time came to play a different part or character in the same production.
