Description
Amaranth is a very old high-protein plant that originated in South America. Their colorful leaves are among the most nutritious of vegetable greens and the grain it produces is what contains the highly nourishing protein. The essential amino acid balance is close to ideal and when it comes to meeting the protein needs of the human body, it surpasses both cows milk and soybeans. Amaranth is high in amino acid lysine, which is lacking in most cereals made from sorghum, corn, barley and wheat. Beautiful both inside and out. Corn growing in the background. Image taken in the Lake Country District of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Canada. "Amaranth"

This is great, Will! Thanks for the information on this beauty. I grow the burgundy amaranth in my yard, also called love-lies-bleeding. I've shared the seeds with a great number of folks who also are amazed at this unique specimen. Thanks for sharing! v/f

Gorgeous colors and form on this beauty, Will! Love the two shades of florals that compliment each other, and the greenery, and the corn stalks behind the floral beauty! Very nice composition, my friend! f/v
